Meet Our Team

Dr. Daniel McClair – Co-Founder, Chief Veterinary Officer

Dr. McClair has always been driven by a desire to help people. Originally pursuing a path toward human medicine in his hometown of Prince George, BC, everything changed when he accepted a summer job at a veterinary clinic. The positive atmosphere, the variety of cases, and the realization that he could still make a meaningful impact on people’s lives by caring for their pets inspired him to change course and become a veterinarian. After graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, with a focus on Small Animal Medicine, Dr. McClair moved to Calgary and quickly made it his home. During COVID, he spent three years in Phoenix, Arizona—partly to escape the cold—where he helped manage multiple clinics, grow teams, and refine his leadership approach. Upon returning home, Dr. McClair worked as a locum veterinarian in more than 25 clinics across the city, giving him a unique perspective on what contributes to a thriving, efficient, and compassionate veterinary practice. In 2024, through a mutual colleague, he met Shannon, who shared his vision for a modern, innovative, client-centred clinic. Together, they decided to bring that vision to life—and Nova Vet was born. Dr. McClair now lives in Calgary with his wife and their two Sphynx cats, excited to help shape a new standard of veterinary care in the community he loves.

Shannon Gervais – Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer

Shannon Gervais has always had a deep love for both animals and the people who care for them. She knew at just 14 years old that she wanted to become a veterinary nurse, and for the past 25 years she has dedicated her life to improving the well-being of pets, supporting veterinary teams, and strengthening the client experience. As a co-founder of Nova Vet, Shannon brings her signature warmth, empathy, and forward-thinking approach to every aspect of the clinic. Her career has spanned clinical nursing, operations, change management, and leadership across the veterinary industry—all of which shaped her vision for a modern, curated clinic experience built around compassion, trust, and exceptional care. Shannon believes that great veterinary medicine starts with great relationships, and she is committed to creating an environment where pets feel safe, clients feel genuinely cared for, and veterinary professionals are empowered to do their best work. Nova Vet is the culmination of her lifelong passion: a place where innovation and heart come together to elevate the way care is delivered.
